Sexually Transmitted Infections are a collection of infections or diseases that are spread or acquired through sexual contact with an infected person.

Signs and Symptoms – Men
- Itching in the genital area
- Painful Urination
- Urine urgency/urinating frequently
- Foul smelling urine
- Urethral discharge (could be pus)
- Genital sores/wounds
- Swelling of the genitals
- Lower back pain and abdominal pain
- Pain in the groin
Signs and Symptoms – Women
- Itching in the genitals
- Painful Urination
- Abnormal vaginal discharge
- Whitish– lumpy discharge (itchy) – Candida
- Itchy green-yellow frothy discharge – Trichomoniasis
- Thin discharge with fishy smell – Bacterial Vaginosis
- Foul smelling urine
- Lower back pain and abdominal pain
- Genital sores/wounds
- Painful intercourse
- Inflammation/swelling of vulva due to itching

Prevention of STI’s
- Proper hygiene
- Avoid unprotected sexual intercourse
- Abstain from sexual intercourse – for those below 18 years
- Do routine tests from accredited healthy facilities
